The Handyperson Service (part of Volunteering Matters – a national volunteering charity) has been operating in the greater Stirling area for approximately 17 years – having extended into Clackmannanshire more recently.
The Handyperson Service has successfully recruited local volunteers and is now in a position to extend the service to the Balfron area.
Volunteers undertake small, DIY type jobs in the homes of people aged over 55 or with a disability.
Volunteers carry out a range of small jobs such as:
- changing lightbulbs or fitting batteries in smoke alarms
- putting up shelves, curtains and mirrors
- assembling flat pack furniture
- unblocking sinks, changing tap washers and rewiring plugs
All volunteers are friendly, reliable and trustworthy. They give up their time to help others in the community.
Volunteers do not carry out jobs such as decorating or gardening. They also cannot replace the services of professional tradesmen such as electricians or plumbers.
The service is completely free but donations are welcome to help with things like travel costs, tools and training.
