Ahead of the summer holidays, Stirling Council is expressing a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to everyone involved in its schools and nurseries following the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic.
Over the past 12 months, schools and nurseries have had to adopt a number of mitigations to be able to continue delivering high-quality learning and care during the coronavirus pandemic in a safe environment.
This has included a period of remote learning from January, which saw almost 14,000 children and young people learn from home due to a second national lockdown, supported by the Council’s rollout of free Chromebooks.
Convener of Stirling Council’s Children and Young People, Cllr Susan McGill said: “On the last day of the school summer term, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone in our schools and nurseries – children, young people, staff and families.
“This school year has been like no other with the ongoing pandemic, but you have all risen to the challenge magnificently time and time again, showing incredible resilience and commitment and understanding.
“The passion and hard work of our staff across our settings and in our educational teams has been phenomenal and we are so grateful to you all.
“To all our remarkable children and young people, you should be extremely proud of your achievements. I hope have an enjoyable, safe and well-deserved holiday, and we will look forward to seeing you back in school and nursery in August.”
Vice Convener, Christine Simpson said: “The last 12 months have been unprecedented in their challenges and a very uncertain time for families.
“I want to place on record my appreciation to our dedicated and inspirational staff in our schools, nurseries and education teams, who have continued to deliver learning and care to our children and young people in difficult circumstances.
“None of this would have been possible, however, without the incredible support and understanding of parents and carers, particularly during the periods when we had to implement remote learning arrangements.
“Last but certainly not least, I want to say a big thank you to all our children and young people for your hard work and remarkable resilience.
“Be proud of what you’ve achieved, keep looking out for each other during the summer holidays and have a fantastic and well-earned break.”
