Stirling’s Provost has urged eligible residents to roll up their sleeves for the Covid vaccine after receiving her first dose at Forth Valley College last week.

Provost Christine Simpson was one of the thousands of Scotland’s citizens over 70 to receive the jab as part of the targeted roll out and has praised staff from NHS Forth Valley, Forth Valley College and the Armed Forces for making the experience quick and pain-free.

The Provost said: “My husband and I went for our jabs at the Forth Valley College campus in Stirling. It was very streamlined and all appropriately distanced.

“Given the numbers involved it was clearly a sizable operation, however there were lots of staff in attendance and we were put through very quickly.

“As for the injection itself, I was surprised how pain-free it was. We both had slightly sore arms later in the evening but that had disappeared by the next day.”

The Provost added that the resurgence of the virus after last summer’s decline had become very concerning and she was relieved, as were many others, to receive her first injection of the vaccine.

So now the Provost is encouraging everyone who is offered a vaccination to accept the invitation.

She said: “The process of getting the vaccine is very straight forward and to anyone who’s on the list, I’d say: ‘go for it.’”
