A specially commissioned, pre-recorded performance from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will provide the soundtrack to this year’s Hogmanay fireworks display at the National Wallace Monument.
The Monument will be the backdrop to BBC Scotland’s New Year celebrations following an overwhelmingly positive response last year, drawing in 1.5 million viewers from across the country. Like last year’s celebrations, this event is closed to the public with all encouraged to watch from the comfort of their homes.
The performance from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will feature tracks from Scottish artists such as Hue and Cry, Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro, Lewis Capaldi and Snow Patrol as a dazzling fireworks display, supported by EventScotland, is set to light up the night sky as Scotland brings in 2022.
Community Planning and Regeneration Convener, Cllr Chris Kane said: “I’m sure many of us will be quite glad to see the back of 2021 so it’s only fitting that we do it in some style with what is sure to be a spectacular display capped off with an arresting performance from the Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
“I sincerely hope that this will be the last Hogmanay where we have to limit our social interactions for the common good of public health, however be sure to tune in wherever you are bringing in the bells to see the Wallace Monument lit up in all its splendour.”
Vice Convener, Cllr Scott Farmer said: “This is set to be a wonderful way to bring an end to what has been a challenging year for everybody and I’m sure the fireworks display and musical performance will once again show that Stirling is a fitting stage for Scotland’s national broadcaster to host its Hogmanay celebrations.
“Please continue to adhere to public health guidelines in order to limit community transmission of Covid and we will hopefully emerge from the shadows of this pandemic stronger than ever as we begin a new year in earnest.”

You can watch the Stirling’s Hogmanay midnight fireworks live on BBC One Scotland as part of Hogmanay 2021 with Edith Bowman from 11.30pm onwards – and live via iPlayer or BBC One Red Button if living in other parts of the UK outside Scotland.
UK viewers outside of Scotland can also watch the festivities on BBC One Scotland HD live via Sky channel 951 and Virgin channel 862.
Pet owners who live close to where the fireworks display is scheduled to take place are advised to note RSPCA guidelines on how to keep their pets safe and minimise distress.
