Who We Are

Kippen Community Trust is the organisation in Kippen that handles the community benefit fund set up by the companies developing windfarms in the local area. The Trust was formerly known as the Kippen Initiative. We are a Registered Charity (SC041951) with a registered address of The Reading Room, Castle Hill, Kippen FK8 3DN.

What We Do

We are responsible for distributing the funds that come to the village from local windfarm developments. We have to work within guidelines agreed by the Trust and Foundation Scotland about how this money is distributed. We invite applications from local organisations for grants from the Kippen Fund that satisfy the grant application guidelines. The grant awards are decided by an independent Panel set up by the Trust. Its decisions are reported to the Board of the Trust for confirmation, since the Board carries ultimate responsibility for how the money is spent. To ensure that the decision process is fair and to the benefit of the community as a whole it is essential that the Panel is drawn from a wide and representative cross-section of Kippen residents.

What is Available?

At present there are two types of grant on offer:

  • Minor Grants with a value up to £1,500
  • Major grants with a value from £1,501 to £5,000

The intention is that the Kippen Fund should not replace existing fund-raising activities in the village. They already contribute to a vibrant community calendar and promote community spirit.

Further, it is important that activities and projects funded by a grant will have significant support from within the Community. The evidence can be provided in terms of the number of members the applicant organisation has, or the number of volunteers it can count on in its activities. Also relevant is the amount the organisation has previously raised through its activities or from other grant awards.

We are not able to support:

  • religious or political activities
  • substituting windfarm money for government funding
  • anti-renewable energy or anti-Developer activities
  • retrospective funding

Please note that we are not able to accept applications from individuals. Your application must be on behalf of a local organisation. You’ll find more information about that on the Guidance Note for each type of grant – you can download an Application Form and a Guidance Note below.
